Legion Member News
Every 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th (if there is one) Wednesday of the month is "Breakfast Coffee Hour" at the post from 09:00 - 10:00. If you are a veteran, come join us and say hello.
The 4th Wednesday of each month is breakfast at the "Browncroft Family Restaurant" from 09:00 - 10:00, (attendee purchases own breakfast). Location is the corner of Browncroft Blvd / Creek Street / Blossom Road. The address is 2501 Browncroft Blvd, Rochester, NY 14625. If you are a veteran, come join us.
The Braman Post meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month from 17:00 - 19:00. Light chow & Refreshments will be followed by the formal meeting. If you are a veteran, stop in. We would like to talk to you.

Note: Due to winter darkness & possible inclement weather the Braman Post does not hold Thursday evening meetings during January/February.

American Legion Senior League Baseball
American Legion Baseball’s reputation as one of the most successful and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues has endured. Today, the program registers teams in all 50 states plus Canada. Each year young people, ages 13 to 19, participate.
The Braman Post 1229 sponsored team came in 3rd place for the year. Good job.
American Legion Junior League Baseball
For 2026, Braman Post is also sponsoring a American Legion junior league baseball team for young people ages 13 to 17.
To the right is the 2026 game schedule for the legion junior teams participating this year in the Rochester Area.

Back in 1951 Penfield area Veterans felt the need for a Veterans Group
in their township. They applied for a Charter in the American Legion as
Braman Post 1229.
Named in Honor of two brother's who served during WW1.
WW1 hit families hard throughout the area.
Perhaps no harder than right here in East Penfield, the home of
Peter D. Braman
and his younger brother
Robert C. Braman
They were two of the nine children of Emma and William Braman.
They grew up on the Braman farm that has been in their family since 1825,
as it still is today.
Both Veteran's were killed in action.
Both paid the ultimate sacrifice for serving our Country.
Their names starred on this plaque posted near the front doors of East Penfield Baptist Church.
Peter D. Braman was born in Penfield, NY, December 23, 1889,son of William I. and Emma J. Braman. He entered the service at Fairport, NY, November 21, 1917, at the age of 27 years. As a Private he was first assigned to 18th Company, 153rd Depot Brigade. He was transferred to Battery D, 309th Field Artillery on December 1, 1917; to Company F, 30th Infantry, on December 12, 1917; to Company C, 9th Machine Gun Battalion, on February 19, 1918. He was trained at Camp Dix, Wrightstown, NJ, Camp Greene, Charlotte, NC, and Camp Merritt, Hoboken, NJ. Embarked overseas, April 1, 1918. Promoted to Private, 1st Class, May 1, 1918. Engaged in action in Aisne Defensive, Chemin des Dames, and northwest of Rheims, May 27 to June 5, 1918; Champagne-Marne Defensive, July 15, 1918. He was killed in action, July 15, 1918, at Champagne-Marne Defensive. Peter is buried in the American Cemetery, Oise-Aisne, Grave 10, Section L, Plot 1.
Robert C. Braman was born in Penfield, NY, December 23, 1892, also one of William I. and Emma J. Braman sons. He entered the service at Rochester, NY, February 24, 1918, at the age of 25 years, as a Private, being assigned to 21st Company, 6th Training Battalion, 151st Depot Brigade. He was transferred, March 16, 1918, to Company G, 307th Infantry, 77th Division. He was trained at Camp Devens, Ayer, MA, and Camp Upton, Yaphank, Long Island, NY. Embarked overseas, April 6, 1918. Robert was killed in action, September 6, 1918, near Fismes, Marne, France, and was buried there. Later his body was brought back to America and reburied in Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield, NY, June 5, 1921 and is buried in Lot 487, Grave J. A military escort was furnished by Penfield Post, American Legion.
Because she lost two sons, Emma Braman is one of the areas better known
"Gold Star Mothers".
